Laura Ikuma is an associate professor of industrial engineering at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. She has extensive experience in applying industrial engineering, process improvement, and ergonomics tools in healthcare settings through hands-on process and safety improvement initiatives. Her major research goal is to improve productivity, worker well-being, and worker and patient safety by combining multiple industrial engineering techniques. Dr. Ikuma earned her PhD and Master’s degrees from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA in industrial engineering with concentrations in ergonomics, and her BS degree in industrial engineering from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC.
